Whenever I visit London, I always try to make sure I visit at least one London bakery because well, cake. However on our most recent trip, it was the first time I was visiting the city as dairy-free. Luckily most London bakeries do tend to have at least one vegan cupcake of some sort (while I don’t identify as vegan, most dairy free alternatives happen to be vegan as well), I wanted to have a little bit more choice so I sought out to visit a completely vegan bakery. My first choice was Ms Cupcake, however as Brixton was a little far out of our way, I decided to try out Cookies & Scream instead.
Cookies and Scream is located in Camden, a great area to do some shopping and eat some great street food. Camden is so big you could easily spend the whole afternoon there, exploring all the different stalls and eating your way through a weeks worth of food, just because there is so. much. choice.
Even though we had stuffed our bellies at lunch time (I had an amazing curry bowl, while David went for a duck wrap), we had luckily saved room for a sweet treat to share, so once we arrived at the little bakery we opted for the cookie dough milkshake. The milkshake was so thick and creamy and such a huge portion we were glad we decided to share as I think one each would have sent us into a sugar coma. The milkshake definitely did not taste vegan and was approved by my meat-eating boyfriend, high praise indeed. The brownies, cookies and donuts’ all looked incredible and when I visit again I am going to make sure I sample as much as I possibly can. If you are vegan, gluten-free or dairy intolerant like me I’d highly recommend Cookies & Scream for some tasty treats that both vegan and non-vegans can enjoy!
