Wonderful Wednesday #39

It’s been a long ole while since one of these glorious posts has been sat down and tapped out, nearly two months in fact. I mentioned in my welcome back to blogging post, that is is a funny old life, and while the past two months have tested my patience and had me reach peak levels of stress, there have been some fabulous nuggets of life that make it all worthwhile.

It’s been a long time, so let’s do this.

New Beginnings

Since my last Wonderful Wednesday, I’ve moved out of my mums’ house into a cosy little two-bed with the boyf. I plan on dedicating a whole post to what it’s been like to finally live with David after four years of long-distance, but for now, all I can say is how great freedom is! Sure there are a sh*t ton of responsibilities now and more bills than I ever thought possible, but its been fun to turn an empty house into our own. Plus, we have a field behind the house that has cows, pigs and a couple of geese in it – which never fails to put a smile on my face (yes, I am a 43 y/o in a 23 y/o body!).

Plant Parents

Oh, and how proud we are as well. We recently visited Powderham Castle (a wonderful place that is worth a visit if you are in Devon!), which has a fabulous little garden centre. We both knew we wanted a bit of greenery adding to our living room, but couldn’t find the right plant to fit the space. Alas, Powederham had the answer and we came back home with our very own potted plant and a little mini cactus too. I could have bought a lot more as well, there is something about having our own little place that has made me green fingered!

Amazing NHS Staff

Due to my endometriosis, I recently had a short stay in hospital, which sounds a lot more dramatic than it actually is. For the two days I was there I was looked after by some seriously bad ass nurses and since being discharged, my GP has been incredible too, with my recovery. We hear so many horror stories about the NHS, but the staff made my very short experience as pleasant as a visit to hospital can be!

Crappy TV

Being bed-bound for three weeks has had me going a little stir-crazy, but it has allowed me to watch copious amounts of TV. Panel shows and stand-up comedies have been my go-to choice as it requires little concentration and has kept my spirits up. The latest season of a League of Their Own has been a particular favourite, scattered alongside plenty of Big Bang and Modern Family.

Crisp Autumnal Mornings

This autumn so far has been so god-damn mild, but at last, I think we finally have a bit of chill which is exactly what is needed to kill all the bad bugs that are currently in the air. I went outside for the first time on Sunday, and while it was bloody cold it was so refreshing to breathe in some crisp, fresh salty-sea air.

These ‘Wonderful Wednesdays’ you have seen scattered all over the bloggersphere have been inspired by the lovely Sally Tangle.  If you want to read more then check out Jo,  MichelleKateCatSamEl, and Kerri‘s blogs and let us keep this cycle of happiness and good intentions spinning

  • Ok I’m trying to work out where you are.. is that the Teign estuary in that photo? (I’m going off the big bridge in the background haha!) Glad Powderham had all the greenery answers you needed! We’ll probably be looking for a new flat soon although the more I think about moving, the happier I feel with our current place :p xxx

    • I actually live in North Devon – that beach is Instow. If you haven’t had the chance to come up North you really should, we have some great spots! xx

  • Yesss I’ve been loving the crisp mornings too. I’ve recently also become a plant parent and loving it – the fact my plant is still thriving makes me very happy! x

  • I’m trying to incorporate some greens into my room, too! Haven;t found the right one yet and the time to actually get looking. But I’m already excited from the thought of it.
