It’s been a long ole while since one of these glorious posts has been sat down and tapped out, nearly two months in fact. I mentioned in my welcome back to blogging post, that is is a funny old life, and while the past two months have tested my patience and had me reach peak levels of stress, there have been some fabulous nuggets of life that make it all worthwhile.
It’s been a long time, so let’s do this.
Since my last Wonderful Wednesday, I’ve moved out of my mums’ house into a cosy little two-bed with the boyf. I plan on dedicating a whole post to what it’s been like to finally live with David after four years of long-distance, but for now, all I can say is how great freedom is! Sure there are a sh*t ton of responsibilities now and more bills than I ever thought possible, but its been fun to turn an empty house into our own. Plus, we have a field behind the house that has cows, pigs and a couple of geese in it – which never fails to put a smile on my face (yes, I am a 43 y/o in a 23 y/o body!).
Oh, and how proud we are as well. We recently visited Powderham Castle (a wonderful place that is worth a visit if you are in Devon!), which has a fabulous little garden centre. We both knew we wanted a bit of greenery adding to our living room, but couldn’t find the right plant to fit the space. Alas, Powederham had the answer and we came back home with our very own potted plant and a little mini cactus too. I could have bought a lot more as well, there is something about having our own little place that has made me green fingered!
Amazing NHS Staff
Due to my endometriosis, I recently had a short stay in hospital, which sounds a lot more dramatic than it actually is. For the two days I was there I was looked after by some seriously bad ass nurses and since being discharged, my GP has been incredible too, with my recovery. We hear so many horror stories about the NHS, but the staff made my very short experience as pleasant as a visit to hospital can be!
Being bed-bound for three weeks has had me going a little stir-crazy, but it has allowed me to watch copious amounts of TV. Panel shows and stand-up comedies have been my go-to choice as it requires little concentration and has kept my spirits up. The latest season of a League of Their Own has been a particular favourite, scattered alongside plenty of Big Bang and Modern Family.
Crisp Autumnal Mornings
This autumn so far has been so god-damn mild, but at last, I think we finally have a bit of chill which is exactly what is needed to kill all the bad bugs that are currently in the air. I went outside for the first time on Sunday, and while it was bloody cold it was so refreshing to breathe in some crisp, fresh salty-sea air.
