February. You have been hard. It’s been a tough month health wise; a new medication has knocked me for six and in turn, my mental health has suffered. BUT BUT BUT, these lists are exactly what is needed, to remind me of all the small little joys that *do* exist despite not being able to see the wonderful quite as clear.
No matter the size of them, it is the wonderful moments that I have really needed this month.
Fluff Fluffy cardigans, fluffy socks, fluffy blanket. This month I invested in a couple of new winter pieces to see me through the cold dark evenings and the comfort of snuggling up in a big fluffy cardigan, wrapped in a cosy blanket has been nothing short of bliss. Throw in a peppermint tea and the sound of rain outside? Oh yesss.
Celebrations A couple of celebrations this month including the birth of a brand new baby from a close friend (little Albert, what a beautiful little name!) and a dear friends wedding which was stunning. Celebration of life and love is what it’s all about folks.
Cooking After being in a bit of a cooking rut this winter, I’ve decided that I need to be a bit more adventurous in the kitchen. I’ve had a good flick through some forgotten about cookbooks and signed us up to a Hello Fresh box to inject a bit of summin summin into dinner times. Dinners I have enjoyed recently included a banging leek, pea and pasta from The Savvy Cook and also Nia’s Mango chicken which went down a storm.
Signs of Spring The extra hours of daylight, clear blue skies, slightly warmer temperatures and fresh flowers growing have got me longing for the new season. Going home after work and it still being light has been wonderful.
Podcasts It’s no secret that I bloody love a podcast. I think I will have to feature podcasts in my wonderful list each month as there are so.many.good.podcasts. Favourites this month have included Dolly Alderton’s Love Stories, The Butterfly Effect by John Ronson and Bryony Gordan’s Mad World. I’ve got sooo many downloaded but I’m always looking to discover more so please let me know if you have any that I need to add to my list!
Date night Earlier on in the month, we decided that every other Friday is going to be our date night – a chance to try a new restaurant and maybe enjoy a cocktail or two. So far we’ve eaten at two really fantastic restaurants and eaten some bloody good desserts. It’s also nice to mix things up, put on a sexy little dress and have something to look forward to at the end of a long week!
February may not have been my favourite month, but there have been some wonderful moments scattered throughout for which I am grateful. Let’s hope March and the promise of Spring will be a bit better!
