In an effort to get more creative in the kitchen, I thought I would start a new fun challenge for myself and others to join in with. Each month I’m going to set an ingredient or theme and bake something in accordance with that. I’m hoping it will get me out of my comfort zone, start to use the many many cookbooks that I own and share some great recipes with people! The idea is to post recipes during the month in line with the theme or the ingredient. You can create as many recipes as you want during the month and at the end, I will share my favourites (tag me on Instagram or Twitter and use the hashtag #OneMoreSliceChallenge)
For the month of April, I have picked Easter as the theme. Easter is such a wonderful time to get creative in the kitchen and you can really go to town on decoration! Pretty pastels, marzipan and *all the chocolate* means Easter is a brilliant time to bake something yummy and something that looks amazing.
If you wanted to have some inspiration for what to bake this month, here are some Easter-themed recipes to get you started…
Hot cross buns are a staple of Easter, but have you ever tried to make your own? These Paul Hollywood ones have brilliant reviews, but if you want to add a twist – try these cranberry and orange or lemon and marzipan. For something completely different, these hot cross bun muffins have hot cross buns in the muffin batter.
Lover or hater of cream eggs? If you love them why not make some cream egg brownies or these epic cream egg chocolate fudge cupcakes. If you prefer mini eggs over cream eggs then this mini-egg cheesecake will be right up your street.
Biscuits are a fun and easy bake to make this Easter and these bunny paw biscuits are all kinds of cute. For something a little bit simpler try these shortbread bunnies or my traditional Easter biscuits that come full of spice and dried fruit.
