Happy May! There is something so oddly satisfying about wonderful Wednesday starting on the 1st of the month, it marks a new chapter – the perfectionist in me really appreciates that.
Well, what a strange month Apil has been. Without going into too much detail, professional life has been crap, to say the least, but home life has been bloody marvellous. Let’s see what has been making the more wonderful moments then shall we?
A Spring Clean A weekend of cancelled plans meant that a spring clean was in order. The winter clothes got put back into the loft, the drawers got Marie Kondo’d and I cleared and re-organised my kitchen cupboards. I felt like a superwoman when it was all done and I kept opening the cupboards just to look at them. How bloody sad is that?! I don’t really care though, they look so good!
Driving For the longest time, driving has been my Everest. I have been learning on and off since I was 17 and every single lesson I have had, I have hated. Even until recently. It wasn’t until the beginning of April after a year with my current instructor that something finally just clicked and I was like HOLY MOLY. I am actually driving!! I felt so confident that I even got my test booked in. No-one knows when it is (apart from my boss and my best friend!) and I’m not planning on telling anyone until I have passed. Even if it takes me X amount of times to pass, I will bloody do it!
The Light Oh, the light has been SO wonderful. Now the clocks have gone back (a shock to the system at first!), evenings are so much nicer and dusk is becoming my favourite time of day. The one the evening light floods through my windows is so joyous, it makes me stop and reflect about things. It is so peaceful.
TV Oooft telly has been so ruddy good this month. Fleabag has been PHENOMENAL (omigod the priest?!) and I have really enjoyed Race Across The World – it’s made me want to go on the BIGGEST adventure. It’s also been the return of Game of Thrones (eeeeeeek!). We rewatched season six the week before to refresh our minds and I fell down many a GoT fan theory on Youtube.
All things easter Easter is such a magical time of year, the smell of spring is in the air, the lighter evenings, the flowers, little baby lambs and the chocolate. *Alllll* the chocolate! (I made a few Easter-themed treats too!)
Spontaneous drinks Spontaneous, after work drinks that are only meant to be one but turn out to be five. Those kinds are the best.
Exploring With work, crappy weather and periods of illness, I haven’t been able to get out an explore as much as I usually like. On one Sunday, me and my friend Connie got on the bus and just rode around, hopping off at different places for a little wonder. We had hot fresh doughnuts by the sea, climbed cliffs and finished it all off in a Wetherspoons for a cheeky drink. It was relaxing, adventurous and spontaneous – exactly what was needed to shake off the cobwebs and breathe.
Lots of exciting things to look forward to in May, and it also welcomes the start of some (hopefully) warm weather!). If you wanted to catch up with more lovely lists, check out the inspiration behind it all – Sally Tangle as well as Jo, Cat, Sam, Peta, El and Ellie.
