I badly have an ‘all vs nothing’ mentality.
I don’t know anyone who doesn’t have this mentality. All or nothing seems to be the only two options available to us. How many times have you told yourself ‘clean eating starts on Monday’ or ‘I’ll begin that deadline when I can give my full attention to it’.
The reality is, we play these silly games in our head because we don’t want to commit and we shift focus towards when we can ‘give it our all’. When we aren’t ready to give it our all, we tend to do nothing and whilst we are doing nothing we are worrying about what we aren’t doing.
Why do we do that? It makes no sense and we are all, in some sense, a slave to that mentality.
Something is better than nothing, so embrace it. Start healthy eating mid-week, contribute something towards that deadline before you are rushing to finish it. All or nothing aren’t the only two options – something is too.
